Thinking Ink

As we approach the major card making season of the year, here's a quick summary of popular ink types and their uses.

The following inks have a water-base and are suitable to use on cardstock, chipboard, and porous surfaces.

• stamp a clear image and let dry for a watermark, tone on tone effect.
• stamp an image and shake on embossing powder, flocking or glitter to create unique effects.
• stocked in inch cubes, regular size and double ended pen

• creates a soft, matte finish
• pigmented colour provides time for blending
• use whenever 'chalk ink' is called for
• stocked in dew drops and available in regular size

• creates a crisp, brighter finish
• pigmented colour provides time for blending
• use for day to day stamping when crisp lines are desired
• use as a coloured based for clear or coordinating embossing powder, glitter or flocking
• stocked in small squares and available in regular size

• creates a clean edge image
• dye ink
• instant drying
• a best choice for use with Copic markers
• stocked in dew drops and available in regular size

• creates a pearlescent finish
• pigmented, rich colour
• fast drying; not for use with powders
• use on vellum, mica, acetate, photo paper, shrink plastic, acrylic and glossy surfaces
• ideal for scrapbook embellishments - no smeared pages or smudged page protectors
• stocked in dew drops, in expanding colour range, available in regular size and multi-colour pads

The inks below have non-water bases, and are high performance products for special applications. both require Staz-On cleaner.

• pigment ink with an oil base
• a very dense ink pad provides image clarity with finely detailed stamps
• use on matte cardstock
• dries quickly
• compatible with water-based paints and markers
• a best choice for use with Copic markers and detailed stamps
• stocked in small squares and available in regular size

• solvent based ink
• use on semi-porous and some non-porous surfaces such as vellum, acrylic, metal, glossy cardstock
• dries quickly
• compatible with water based paints and markers
• incompatible with Copic markers
• intense colours and opaque white and pastels
• stocked in regular size pads. not available in small size

The following products each have special uses as described.

• water based suspension
• use on papers and photos to create an aged or antique effect
• available in 8 colours, in 8ml spritz bottles

• solvent based cleaner for oil and solvent based inks
• stocked in 2 oz dauber containers
• coming soon in refillable spray bottles, 8 oz. refill and travel size spritzers.

• a clear, heat free embellishment adhesive for stamps and direct application
