Tsukineko - Questions and Answers

Miscellaneous Accessories

Q: What is a sponge dauber used for?
Sponge DauberA: There are two styles of sponge daubers, capped and uncapped. Sponge daubers are used to transfer colour, in the form of ink or paint or powder, from the container or a dish, to the artwork. The capped dauber keeps the sponge and things around it, clean and free from accidental contact with other surfaces, in between uses. This sponge surface is a little smaller, to allow the cap to fit on it. The uncapped dauber is left exposed and will dry out.
Q: What is the Jumbo Dauber for?
A: The Jumbo Dauber does the same as it’s little predecessor, but is better for seamless blending and covers a larger area.
Q: What is the Ink Sweeper designed to do?
A: Another great tool for applying colours, from ink pad to artwork. With the width of the sweeper, add several colors and make shaded backgrounds, rainbows, squiggles, zigzags, you name it!
Q: What is the Squeegee designed for?
A: The Squeegee is great for spreading inks, directly from the inker bottle, onto surfaces. Add a little Opalite inker to a piece of black cardstock, and drag the colour with the squeegee. It’s even more dramatic when two different colors of Opalite inker are used on the same page and ‘squeegeed’ together…it’s like magic!
Q: The Smudgee looks like a half of a mitten! How is it used?
A: The Smudgee is a fun tool, used for easy blending and polishing. Use it to add more than one colour, to blend and to polish. Before using, turn the Smudgee inside out so the seam is on the inside. This gives a smoother application and prevents having a seam line in your colours!
